Residential and Training Service
To provide residential and day care service for adults with physical and mental handicap. Our staff place importance on the development of the inner potential of our service users. Through individualized training on daily living skills and involvement in multi-faceted activities, their self-care abilities and their personality will be further nurtured and developed.
We encourage service users to develop their interests, enjoy life and actively contribute to the community. We organize different community activities e.g. visit the elderly singleton who lives alone, act as SAHK Ambassadors to share their life experience with others in the mainstream schools, participate in flag days, visit other NGOs and showcase their talents e.g. wheelchair dance, Hip Hop Dance, magic show etc.
6 types of residential and training centres to cater to the needs of service users with different self care abilities, including
1.Independent Home Scheme – to help them learn to be independent through mutual support and self participation in the community;
2.Supported Hostel – to help them learn to be more independent in home and community living;
3.Hostels for moderate mentally handicapped –to help them learn self-care, daily living and community living skills;
4.Hostels for severely physically handicapped – to help them learn and develop their self care abilities, and a balanced growth through participation in activities and training such as cognitive, physical, psychological and social aspects.
5.Hostels for severe mentally handicapped cum day training centre- to help them learn self-care, and a balanced growth through participation in activities and training such as cognitive, physical, psychological and social aspects.
6.Care and Attention Home for severely disabled – to provide whole day care and a variety of activities so as to encourage them to develop their inner potentials and have an enjoyable retirement.
Scope of Service
- To provide basic care in daily living
- To provide nursing care and cultivate a proper attitude in personal hygiene
- To provide various activities and training such as individual, group, indoor and outdoor, based on individual needs and development
- To organise family activities to strengthen the family relationship
- To provide individual and group counseling
- To make referrals to other social services, when necessary.
- To provide Visiting Medical Practitioner (VMP) Scheme Service
Service Hours :
7 - day service, but encourage family reunion on weekends and festive days.
