SAHK Institute of Rehabilitation Practice
Background
Since 1963 SAHK, formerly known as "The Spastics Association of Hong Kong”, has been providing rehabilitation service to the locals. After many years of continuous innovative and evidence-based practice, the Association has marked development in its service scope, nature and service quality. At the same time, the Association actively disseminates professional information and technology on rehabilitation through its numerous training activities to the local community as well as nearby areas. In 2013, the SAHK Institute of Rehabilitation Practice was formally established which reiterates our commitment to promote quality rehabilitation service.
Our Vision and Objectives
Our Vision is to advocate outstanding rehabilitation service, both in Hong Kong and nearby localities, including all kinds of developmental delay or acquired related disabilities. Our objectives are:
- To actively promote good service model and continuous improvement in the service culture;
- To provide quality and update education and in-service training opportunities for professionals and other related personnel;
- To enhance the exchange among experts, frontline workers, and other related personnel; to enhance the level of understanding of the information, skills technology through various training and exchanges.
Structure and Courses
The daily operation of the Institute is under the supervision of the Council of SAHK and the executive committee of the Institute, and it also has the support from the both local and overseas consultants. The various training and exchange activities are planned and organized by related groups. The Institute consists of the following 3 parts:

Conductive Education
Courses
The Institute will organized various courses, workshops, seminars and meetings, including all kinds of courses which lead to continuous professional diploma and continuous nursing education, QF and other certificate courses
Characteristics of the Courses
- A network of local and overseas scholars and experts to form the panel of consultants;
- Highly qualified and experienced local and overseas teachers;
- Training and teaching will focus on practice and hands-on;
- A system of ensuring quality of the courses is in place
