Eco-Friendly Dining On Campus Made Easy

As the ancient saying goes, "People regard food as heaven." Nowadays, whether on Facebook, Instagram, X, or YouTube, the most popular topic is always related to eating ! Therefore, the SAHK Jockey Club Elaine Field School's latest round of environmental education focuses on dining, promoting eco-friendly lunches. This initiative encourages students to use reusable tableware and bring their own cutlery, fosters the habit of cleaning their own utensils after meals, and participates in the Environmental and Conservation Fund’s campaign to cultivate a "Food Wise" culture on campus. This includes funding for food waste composters to facilitate the recycling of kitchen waste into organic fertiliser for the school garden.

This approach allows students to experience a low-carbon lifestyle through source reduction of waste and helps them develop habits they can practise both on and off campus.
