A Series of Competitions at the Sports Day in Mainland China

Students from The Jockey Club Elaine Field School travelled to Guangzhou in early November to participate in the "Greater Bay Area Special Olympics" (大灣區特奧運動會) and the "Parent-Child Integration Sports Day" (親子融合運動會), organised by sister school , Nansha Qihui School (also known as Nansha Special Education School). The "Greater Bay Area Special Olympics" had a more competitive focus, while the "Parent-Child Integration Sports Day" aimed to strengthen friendships between students from Hong Kong and Guangdong through collaborative sporting activities.

The Greater Bay Area Special Olympics, held on 7th November, welcomed participation from 20 schools across Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Yangjiang, Yangchun, and Meizhou, with a total of 148 special students involved, including 7 representatives from The Jockey Club Elaine Field School. This event primarily focused on athletics, encompassing events such as running, softball throw, and long jump. An opening ceremony showcased the athletes, allowing participants to gather and display their enthusiasm. Following several rounds of spirited competition, the representative team from the School achieved notable results, securing 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, and 8 third prizes—an impressive accomplishment deserving of commendation.

The following day featured the Parent-Child Integration Sports Day, an annual event hosted by Nansha Qihui School. This year, they extended an invitation to our school to participate. Students, parents, and teachers made a vibrant entrance with a thoughtfully arranged dance. Subsequently, 7 students engaged in a variety of distinctive competitions alongside students and parents from Nansha Qihui School. Winning or losing was not the primary emphasis; rather, the focus was on facilitating opportunities for students to interact freely with new acquaintances through sports. Furthermore, participating outside of Hong Kong provided the students with invaluable experiences in community adaptation.
