Inspiring Story of a Couple Battling Stroke Together
Four years ago, 玉明(Chinese Only) suffered a stroke that left her with paralysis on the left side of her body. At that time, her husband resolutely resigned from his job to take care of her. After some time following her discharge from hospital, 玉明began to engage in rehabilitation exercises, provided by the Association’s New Territories East Community Rehabilitation Day Centre.
Thanks to the tailored training programmes devised by professional therapists and the diverse range of equipment available at the Centre, 玉明's mobility has significantly improved. She can now use a walking stick to go out independently and has re-entered the workforce, allowing her husband to return to work. Their relationship has grown even stronger. She encourages others on similar journeys: "Have faith; willpower greatly aids recovery. I am confident that my condition will gradually improve."
Since 1963, the Association has been continuously supported person with disabilities of all ages, including stroke patients, assisting them in their recovery and integrating into the society. To support the operational of the Association's rehabilitation services, innovative developments, and self-financing initiatives, the Association successfully held a charity film show of the film "Little Red Sweet" on 15 March (Saturday).
