The Chief Executive visited service units to listen to the views of service users
Earlier, the Chief Executive, Mr. John LEE, the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr. Chris SUN, the Secretary for Home Affairs and Youth, Ms Alice Mak, and a group of government officials visited the Sha Tin District. Accompanied by the Chairperson of the Association, Mrs. Josephine M. W. TSUI PANG, BBS, MH, the Chief Executive made a home visit to a family receiving services from the New Territories East Community Rehabilitation Centre. The family’s daughter suffers from genetic muscular dystrophy and has to be taken care of by her mother for a long period. After receiving day care service and rehabilitation treatment from the Centre, her health has improved and her mother's stress has been relieved; the mother herself is suffering from pain and has also received pain relief treatment from the Centre. They all expressed to the Chief Executive the importance of community support services through their own experiences.
After the home visit, the Chief Executive visited the New Territories East Community Rehabilitation Day Centre and interacted with the service users of the Centre, including Ms Lo, a stroke survivor. He encouraged her not to give up and to do more exercise and training The Chief Executive also participated in handicrafts with three other service users, one of whom sang the song of ‘一生中最愛’ (Chinese only) and another made a joint handicraft together with the Chief Executive and presented it to him as a souvenir.
Before leaving, the Chief Executive took a group photo with Mr. Chris SUN, Ms Alice MAK, Mrs. Pang, Acting Chief Executive Officer Ms Louise W. Y. YIP, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Ms Edith S. K. HUNG, etc. The Chief Executive said on social media platforms afterwards that he had a deep impression of the visit and admired the service users for their positive attitude in overcoming difficulties, and thanked them for their advice which enabled him to have a deeper understanding of the needs of the service users. The Association would like to express its sincere gratitude to the Chief Executive and several government officials for the visit, and looks forward to strengthening cooperation with different sectors of the community in our endeavour to build an inclusive society!
