Works in Mainland

SAHK strives to provide training for Chinese rehabilitation personnel, in order to assist in the development of Chinese rehabilitation agencies.

In addition to organizing basic and advanced training courses, the Association also provides outreach service which includes professional consultation, talks to agencies, The focus is mainly on training strategies for persons with autism spectrum and Conductive Education. In 2011/12, outreach consultancy service was provided to 6 centres and 11 visits were made. At the same time, 2 centres were also arranged to have a total of 3 attachments in our special child care centres, in order to increase their practical experience. Special thanks to Providence Foundation Ltd. for their generous support for the training activities personnel working with children with autism spectrum. At present, some of the agencies which have previously obtained support from us is now able to take up the role to train other rehabilitation personnel in China. Our professional consultancy has also expanded to other cities which need our support e.g. Zhuhai, Xian etc.

Courses in Autism Spectrum

In November 2011, our Association collaborated with the Guangdong Federation of Disabled Persons, to conduct a tailor-made 5-day certificate course for staff working with children with autism spectrum in Shantau. There were a total of 39 participants.

In November 2011, a 5-day basic course on teaching children with ASD for rehabilitation personnel was attended by 29 participants from 18 different agencies. There were many applying agencies from provinces which the Association has no previous contacts, which implied that more and more people in the Mainland have learnt of our works and achievements and therefore would like to learn more from us.

In early 2011, SAHK started a new partnership with the Shenzhen Children’s Hospital and Hong Kong Holistic and Homeopathic Rehabilitation Society(Society). We assisted in teaching, knowledge and skills, to both the staff and the parents of children with autism spectrum, With funding support from the Society, a series of ten one-day talk were held about once a month in the Hospital. In addition, we also assisted the Society to set up a parents’ resource centre in Shenzhen, which is the first of its kind in the Mainland.

Conductive Education(CE)

In March 2012, World Vision-China invited the Association to conduct a 5-day course on CE in Tianjin for 50 frontline rehabilitation workers

In May 2011, a 10-day "Clinical Attachment Course on CE” was attended by 21 participants from 12 different agencies.
